VEGANUARY AT DAILY BOWL

Many of us are looking for ways to make a fresh start, and for some, that means going vegan!

Veganuary is the annual event that encourages people to commit to a vegan lifestyle for the month of January. While it may seem like a daunting task, going vegan for Veganuary is a great way to experiment with veganism and reap the health, environmental, and ethical benefits that come with it.

THE BENEFITS OF GOING VEGAN FOR VEGANUARY

There are four main benefits to going vegan for Veganuary: health, environmental, ethical, and financial. First and foremost, veganism is an incredibly healthy lifestyle. Studies have shown that vegans are less likely to suffer from certain diseases, and they tend to have lower cholesterol and body mass index (BMI).

Additionally, the antioxidant and fibre content of vegan diets can help protect against cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. The environmental benefits of veganism are also significant. Animal agriculture is a major contributor to climate change and other environmental issues, such as deforestation and water pollution.

By cutting out animal products from your diet, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help protect the planet. The ethical benefits of going vegan for Veganuary are also undeniable. The meat and dairy industries are notorious for their cruelty to animals. By choosing to go vegan, you will be helping to reduce animal suffering and exploitation.

Finally, going vegan for Veganuary can also be a cost-effective choice. Plant-based foods tend to be cheaper than animal products, and they're often more nutritious, too.

HOW TO GO VEGAN FOR VEGANUARY

Going vegan can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Here are some tips to help you make the transition:

1. Start small. Going vegan doesn't have to mean overhauling your entire diet overnight. Start by replacing one animal product each week with a vegan alternative.

This way, you can make a gradual transition to veganism.

2. Focus on local and seasonal produce. Eating locally and seasonally is not only good for the environment, but it can also be a great way to explore veganism. Check out your local farmers market to find fresh, in-season produce. Or better still sign up for the Shillingford Veg Box scheme! You will be inspired each week to try new dishes using their glorious variety of Organic veg!

3. Try meat and dairy alternatives. There are a wide range of meat and dairy alternatives available, from tofu to almond milk. Experiment with different products to find the ones you like best.

4. Get creative in the kitchen. Going vegan doesn't mean you have to give up your favourite recipes. Get creative in the kitchen and try veganising your favourite dishes, or find vegan recipes online. Or better still join one of our cooking workshops, and learn how to make our delicious meals at home! Make it a social occasion. Going vegan can be a great way to connect with friends and family. Invite them to join you for vegan meals or vegan potlucks. Come try Daily Bowl, bring a friend and experience a whole new way of eating lunch.

7. Be kind to yourself. Going vegan is a journey, and some days may be harder than others. Be kind to yourself and remember that any progress is good progress.

Veganuary is a great opportunity to explore veganism and reap the many benefits it has to offer. Whether you're looking to improve your health, reduce your environmental impact, or help animals, going vegan for Veganuary is a great way to start 2023 on the right foot.

At Daily Bowl we are committed to making this transition easier. Even if that means we feed you one meal a week. Its a start!
